Solent Half Marathon
The Solent Half is our half marathon road race, held in the Autumn. The event has been going for over 30 years. It is a friendly event with up to 500 entries and a lovely course winding through the New Forest around Exbury and along the Solent shore at Lepe.
Once again we are part of the Hampshire Road Race League.
It turned out to be a beautiful sunny day for the race, although the heat did add an extra challenge for the more than 400 runners that took part. We hope you enjoyed the race and look forward to welcoming you back again next year. Well done to all of you!

Venue: Gang Warily Leisure Centre, Newlands Road, Southampton, SO45 1GA.
Race timings: Prompt start time at 10:00 am.
The Course:

We need to inform you of a revised course route, which we have no option to make due to roadworks which have completely blocked part of the course and were not due to start until 2nd October, the day after the race.

There will be a new start and finish arrangement to make up the lost distance. You will be starting at the green marker and finishing at the white marker.
Nothing to worry about as every junction and the start finish area will be marshalled.
Nothing like a last minute challenge, we look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

The course starts on the field at Gang Warily. After half a lap of the fields you will head onto a temporarily closed road and through a closed cross roads. After this the course is completely on open live country roads.
You should KEEP LEFT at all times. Except where directed by marshals to cross the road. Please be considerate to traffic, horse riders, cyclists, walkers etc.
The course will be fully marshalled by our club volunteers, please do listen to them they are there for your safety and will give you lots of encouragement.
Drinks Stations: There will be 3 drink stations at approx; 4 miles, 8 miles and 11 miles. Please dispose of cups and any gels in the bins after the stations. Zero littering please.

Whilst the whole course is marshalled, we are also providing two escape routes in-case you need to return to the HQ. Please let the nearest marshal know if you need to take these.
